What is 925 Sterling Silver?
All jewellery from ithappensonlakemartin is made from 92.5% Silver. The remaining part usually consists of copper which is why it is referred to as 925 Sterling Silver. Silver needs to be combined with other metals as it is such a soft and malleable metal. The copper adds strength to the piece to prevent the jewellery from bending or changing shape. Care must still be taken while wearing and handling a piece of Silver jewellery as it can bend if force is applied. All jewellery pieces by ithappensonlakemartin are stamped with 925 inside the metal.
What plating do you use for Gold and Rose Gold jewellery?
Our jewellery are all made of 925 Sterling Silver and plated in 14k Gold and Rose Gold unless stated in the product description. 14k indicates that there is a metal mix of 58.3% of gold composition. Gold is a soft metal, with 14k gold, the metal is beautiful in colour and durable for everyday wear.
What is Cubic Zirconia?
'Cubic' refers to the symmetry of crystals and 'zirconia' references its chemical composition. Cubic Zirconia are man-made stones that stimulates diamonds. It is flawless and colourless, with brilliance almost identical to diamonds. With a Moh's scale of 8.5, it is highly durable and suitable to use in all jewellery types.
What is Rhodium?
Rhodium is a precious metal and member of the platinum family. This plating is commonly used on white gold jewellery. All Silver coloured jewellery is plated in Rhodium for a more durable, bright and lustre finish.
Are your jewellery hypoallergenic?
Yes, all our jewellery is made of 925 Sterling Silver, or Stainless steel and plated with 14k Gold and Rose Gold. They are lead and nickel free, making it hypoallergenic with minimal risk of causing an allergic reaction.
Do the Earrings come as single or in a pair?
All earrings are sold as a pair or set unless stated otherwise.

How do I clean my jewellery?
To clean your jewellery, simply polish it using our Polishing Cloth. We recommend polishing your jewellery after each wear. This will help prevent any build up of sweat and dirt.
Can I wear my jewellery in the shower?
Yes, our Jewellery is Waterproof and can be worn in the shower. We do recommend removing your jewellery when swimming in chlorine.
When should I remove my jewellery?
Remove jewellery when sleeping and exercising. Sleeping and exercising in your jewellery can cause tangles that put pressure on joins and links, which can cause accidental damage.
How to I protect the plated surface of my jewellery?
Avoid impact with hard surfaces as this will protect against scratches and chipping. Try to prevent jewellery from rubbing against each other, banging onto countertops or rubbing against other hard objects.
What should I avoid my jewellery to come in contact with?
Do not spray perfume or other body sprays while wearing your jewellery. Be sure to leave your jewellery till last when getting dressed. This will ensure no products that contain chemicals may come into contact with your pieces. Wait for hand sanitiser, lotions and creams to dry before wearing your jewellery. Avoid harsh substances like oils, polishes, nail polish remover, and chlorine, as these chemicals may react with the metals in the jewellery.
